Smashed KISS Guitar? That'll Be $5500

(from The Herald Sun) Stanley is also of selling another guitar at the band’s meet and greet session for $5000 each, a guitar played on stage for $8500, and the microphone he sings into for $3000.

Stanley will offload the goodies at KISS shows in Melbourne, Sydney on March 10, Brisbane on March 12 and Mackay on March 16.

The sales pitch on his website for the damaged axe says: “A Paul Stanley Washburn Starfire guitar smashed onstage in your honour!”

The price includes a meeting and photo with Stanley. Stanley will also sign the musical equipment. But buyers must shell out extra for tickets to the KISS show.

A small print clause adds: “Each broken Paul Stanley Washburn guitar is a one-of-a-kind, unique collectible, and you will receive the guitar broken at this show.”

A setlist from the show is also included with the microphone.

Another splash of small print adds: “Paul will be happy to pose with a microphone in hand identical to the mic you will receive. Due to stage setup logistics, the mic you will receive after the show will already be on stage at the time of the meet-and-greet.

“The microphone you receive after the concert has ended is Paul's stage-used microphone. You will NOT receive the microphone stand or any accessories.”

A manager at a well-known Melbourne guitar shop, who asked not to be named for fear of bombardment from the KISS Army, said Stanley’s asking prices were exorbitant.

He said: “It’s a production line guitar with a custom finish. It’s not like it’s a Gibson.”

But he added: “It’s worth what the buyer gets out of it. KISS fanatics pay good money for anything.”
